Aside from looking truly impressive, watching footage for Prey For The Gods by No Matter Studios takes me back. It’s blatantly inspired by the masterpiece that is Shadow of The Colossus. That’s by no means a bad thing. Many would be justified thinking that this is simply a rip-off of Fumito Ueda’s works of art. Thematically, Prey For The Gods is very different and appears even more ambitious.
It remains to be seen if Prey For The Gods will carry the same gravitas and mystery in its story as Shadow of The Colossus. To do your own thing within an 8th generation working environment is no small feet. In order to make all of this possible, No Matter is making use of a Kickstarter campaign with the aim of reaching $300,000 to make a PC release. But it doesn’t stop there. No Matter has reached their goal to release on PS4 and the released list of goals continues with further boss fights
What Prey For The Gods Will Deliver
On the above linked page, No Matter explains a little about what Prey For The Gods has to offer:
“To be victorious, you need to discover and exploit their weaknesses then climb on and defeat them. Do you take the giants head-on and dodge their massive attacks, striking when the time is right? Or hide from their gaze and sneak up on them? Pick up a sword, find a bow and arrow, fly through the air with a grapple hook, or use your bare hands.”
Exciting stuff, indeed. The Prey For The Gods team is currently made up of three developers, which is very impressive from what we’ve seen so far. Many hold fond memories of Shadow of The Colossus and will likely be keeping a close eye on this one as it offers everything Ueda’s game did and more. Including looting fallen heroes for supplies, survival elements and a grappling hook. For future updates on Prey For The Gods, stick with us here at All Things PS4.
